Introduction
This guide describes the steps needed to connect SEP Sesam to the Silent Brick Version using SMB protocol. The Guide was testet with Silent Brick Version 2.59 and SEP Sesame Version 5.1.0.15.

For a later connection, a user has to be defined on SEP side as well as on the Silent Brick System

Switch to the SMB section

Create a SMB user to your needs

In the Silent Brick System move to volumes and create a new volume via the "Add" Button

Enter a proper name

Choose type "SNAS"

Make sure to enable the checkbox for "Large File Optimization"

In your newly created volume navigate to shares and create a new share using the "Add SMB Share" button

Uncheck the public checkbox in order to be able to add users

Use the searchbox to search for the previously created user

Add the user and save your share

In SEP Sesam switch to the section "Datenspeicher" and choose "Neuer Datenspeicher"

Open up the Browse dialog

Expand the Network Section in order to get the credentials dialog

Enter the credentials previously configured for your SMB share

Connect the Silent Brick System by entering the share or by browsing the network

The Mediapool defines global settings like retention days
-
After saving the previous dialog, the software will ask you for a media pool to use with this new backup target. Choose a proper name and a description.

Your newly created media pool is now available as backup target.
